What’s the deal with bras? People are asking themselves this question as they re-enter society post-pandemic as social beings. There will be some #vaxxedgirlsummer outfits that never made it outside of their (super sanitized) apartment in 2020, never making it to those rooftop bars or bottomless brunches. There are those who are on the fence, however. If you’ve been off the hook for almost a year and a half, how do you go from wireless to wired? The wearing of a bra (or undergarments, for that matter) is not mandatory. A bra (in public or otherwise) is not mandatory, just as there are no actual “body type” fashion rules to follow. It’s nice to have the option to wear braless fashion trend because they cover your breasts, make your clothes fit better, and help your clothes fit better. Just as shaving your body hair is a personal choice, wearing a bra is too.
How To Go Braless
You’d think it would be obvious, wouldn’t you? Stop wearing a bra if you want to follow the braless fashion trend. The sentiment is easier said than done for most of us. You might feel unnatural at first before you feel liberated if you’ve worn a bra almost every day since you were a teenager. Cindy Conroy, a celebrity stylist, said it best: While we may hate bras, we’re used to them after years of hate. It’s not unusual for us to sprint to catch the subway before the doors slam shut before speed walking to meetings, strolling down the street to window shop, or speed walking to meetings,” she tells InStyle. “You’ll feel weird when the wire under your bust is gone, because it has become normal.”
A Note On going Braless For Bigger Busts
No matter how well endowed you are, braless may still be an option for you. As such, following the braless fashion trend, you may find you prefer wearing one if for no other reason than for its support. According to Jené Luciani Sena, a fashion expert and accredited stylist who specializes in bras, other factors may deter you from going braless if you’re above a C-cup. Our breasts are made up of ligaments and tissue that can stretch over time, and a properly supportive bra is a must,” Sena notes – but there is a workaround for women with bigger busts. “Those don’t have to be heavy foam bras with underwires and big contraptions,” she adds quickly. It is often enough to simply have wire-free cups and a wire-free style.”
Start With Bralettes Or Bandeau Tops
The good news is that bralettes and bandeaus are comfortable, wireless, and padding-free, so they’re the perfect place to start if you’re still hesitant to go braless. Moreover, bralettes and bandeaus provide light support, which we’re used to feeling from years of wearing conventional bras, she says, adding that they also “provide a sense of security that we’re used to.”
Accessorize With A Cardigan For Coverage
Sismone, a 42H, recently wore a spaghetti strapped dress with a lot of structure without a bra. Even so, the image consultant acknowledges that wearing such looser-fitting clothes requires a certain level of comfort. “You’ll have more bounce without a bra,” Sismone says. A cardigan may help you if you have trouble doing that.”
Smocked Bodices Are Supportive
InStyle reports that smocked bodices can offer good support, especially for women with larger busts, since they’re fitted and well-tailored around the bust. Since these garments are flexible and can accommodate the extra width, wearing these tops or dresses is easier and more convenient than having to take everything in at the waist for bigger women.
